Two more instances of Chemlawn where the service was less then stellar.

In 2000, We had a really bad infestation of Japanese Beetles. They destroyed my fruit trees, roses, grapes in the way back yard. (It's my fault for planting those types of plants.) I called Chemlawn and the "cure" advised by them was to do a $400 grub treatment  in the fall, to be effective the next year. I agreed to that and they did it.

The next year came and I had an even bigger Japanese Beetle problem. (Million's of them!!!)  I called Chemlawn and asked what happened, they sent a guy out to look and he said: "We can't guarantee that the grub treatment will work.  I see it didn't work for you. But we can spray your trees to kill the the beetles". I was dumbfounded, why didn't the guy offer that cure the year before? I didn't ask for a grub treatment, I asked to eradicate the beetles and was told that was the cure. So they got me on that one  --$400 bucks for nothing.

I researched on the internet regarding how to get rid of Japanese Beetles and I bought MILKY SPORE and applied it myself.  I don't have the massive Beetle problem anymore. Milky Spore is an environmentally safe products which inoculates your lawn for 15 to 20 years. But it takes 3-5 years to really get going. Last year (2006) we hardly had any at all. Expensive, but worth it. (Bag worms are still a problem, though.)

Another story:

I can't remember exactly which year... 2002 or possibly 2003...

Chemlawn completely missed treating my property that Spring, even though I had a notice in writing that they would show up. I kept calling them...I said: "You did my neighbor's yard, why not mine?" One excuse after another... it's been raining too much, we're all backed up.... blah blah blah... They finally came and did my so called "pre-emergent" in JULY.  Too late, it should've been done in March, it has to be done by late April.

My yard was one gigantic lawn of crab grass. I was shocked by that since we didn't even have crab grass before we had Chemlawn.
Anyway, for that spectacular screw up, they aerated and re-seeded my entire lawn for FREE, I was told a $1400.00 value. That's why I kept using them, because they attempt to fix a screw up. Now, if only Chemlawn could raise Moose back from the dead, then I'd be really happy with them.

These stories are... I am sure more than anyone wants to know, however, I am determined to document how this company operates.
