Subject: Chemlawn killed my Dog!
Hello,
I wanted to inform the ASPCA that my dog has died from pesticide exposure
(Tri-Power) administered by Chemlawn.
Chemlawn entered my property without permission or notification. I filed
a complaint with the Maryland Dept. of Agriculture. I just received the letter
that after a 4 month investigation, the MDA only gave Chemlawn a "warning".
A mere slap on the wrist for taking away the love of my family's life.
Apparently Chemlawn is allowed to get away with murder.
RE: Pesticides
All I can find through my research is to "stay off until dry"... but nothing
is written about what happens when an animal has direct contact with freshly
sprayed pesticides. I can tell you, acute liver/kidney failure. I am in the
process of creating a website to tell the world of this injustice. People
need to be informed how dangerous these chemicals are when freshly sprayed.
The Vet couldn't/wouldn't say for sure why my dog died, even though I said
repeatedly it was Chemlawn. I was asked by the Vet to spend $1600.00 in medical
tests to rule out any other dog related illnesses. All tests revealed no
dog illness. There's no cause listed as to why he went into acute liver/kidney
failure! Do humans/animals go into this state without a cause? I believe
with every fiber of my being that If Chemlawn did not trespass onto my property,
my dog would still be alive.
One of the most distressing parts of this situation is the fact that Vets
have NO WAY to test for pesticide exposure! Talk about a "Catch 22!" I can't
prove it was Chemlawn because we don't have access to these kind of tests,
however, that is EXACTLY what's needed to PROVE chemical poisoning.
That is something the general public does not know --but should know and
it needs to change!
There's probably other people in the same situation but they hit all the
same brick walls and stop. The system totally works against us (the little
people) and in favor of big, rich corporations. They have total impunity
to poison our families and our beloved pets.
If I were in charge of the world:
1) There would be a national laboratory to send animal toxicology samples
to when there's a suspicion of chemical poisoning.
2) Every Veterinarian in the US would be notified of its existence.
3) It would be funded by Chemlawn and manufacturers of pesticide companies
and other related industries. IE, companies that profit from poison.
Instead of sponsoring golf tournaments Chemlawn could do something useful
for the safety of America.
4) Lastly, the lab would be run by people not profiting from Chemicals to
insure fairness.
I hope that the ASPCA decides to look at my situation.
Sincerely,
Robin Olson
